Free Form and Free Style

Baskets are round or oval most of the time.

When I learned to make baskets, I made rounds and ovals. I enjoyed sewing these baskets.
The selection of fabric and thread than the sewing sometimes bring a surprise.

The fabric changes appearance when made into baskets. A bold Easter print becomes an equally bold baskets without Easter showing.

Vintage pink roses against blue stripes and tiny dots appear different when one basket has pink thread and the other blue thread.

I stitched a free form, no rounds or ovals here.

Surprise, it is a heart. Two hearts are better than one.

I still sew rounds and ovals baskets, but I now embrace a free form and free style. I never know exactly where this free style will lead. I do love a surprise.

A heart of many colors. Scrappy and a wonderful surprise. I thought i was making a triangle. No, It is definitely a heart.

This fabric has been in my stash for years. One of those great clearance price purchases, which I decided after buying, I did not like. So it sat on the shelf.

Than I  noticed how the fabric changes when sewn into baskets. I sew it with a free form and I am pleased with the outcome. I like the fabric in this free form.

Classic colors in a totally free style.

Sew What ?

So what have I been sewing?

I have been working on several different items.
I have said in the past I cannot do one project at a time.

So with the New Year, yes seven months ago, I made a New Year resolution. It was challenge to me.

I would enter a quilt challenge my favorite quilt magazine holds six times a year. This is a large, big, huge, and significant goal for me. There have been four challenges at this time. I have entered two. Partially design one. Have completed a third but did not enter it.

This might sound like failure to some, but to me it is superb, amazing, wonderful, and inspired.

To set a deadline and meet it is good thing.

To say ‘Hey look at my work’ is a brave thing.

To make an item, any item from start to finish is a learning thing.

I will be working on the more challenges and other projects.

I will be showing what happens when I get together with my sewing machine.

Hello Again

It has been some time since I have written for my blog. I have been sewing and sewing and sewing. I love sewing.

I lose all track of time when I sew. In my sewing room I keep an old fashion kitchen timer.

I often set it for an hour to remind me to get up and move around. This is a good recommendation for anyone sitting for a long length of time.

No matter how comfortable the chair at the desk or sewing table a body needs to move.

So I have learned a body will get terrible stiff and achy after sitting for hours.

So to better enjoy my passion of sewing I move around at least a few minutes every hour.

Enjoy your passion and stay healthy.
